Again, I wrote this back in January…
Here are the specifics for our drive this last time:
5:00 PM Leave Embassy
6:15 PM FINALLY get onto NLEX (6 miles away from the embassy)
7:15 PM Hit SCTE
8:00 PM Started up McArthur Highway (horrible road work the entire time!)
9:30 PM Transfered to Pugo-Rosario Rd
10:00 PM Jose D. Aspiras Hwy (only 20 miles to go!)
11:00 PM Finally arriving at the gate to the US compound
Despite the longest drive every we loved our time in Baguio. We made each meal ahead of time and frozen it. This was the best thing possible. We had all our own food and didn’t need to worry about going out and finding it.
It was COLD!! There is no heat in the little cabin but we had a fireplace that went almost 24 hours a day. When the sun was out during the day it was really nice but the nights were too cold.
We happened to go at the same time two other families. This was the best. Instant play dates all day long. Winning.
Patrick left for one night and climbed Mt. Pulog. This was the coldest climb he’d ever done because the whole time they were in a cloud and it was really windy. He and one other guy from the embassy were the only ones of the 50 embassy people that actually summited.
ALSO, watching the Seahawks beat the 49ers was AMAZING!! Go Hawks!!
